At Northfleet School for Girls we provide for every kind of frequently occurring special educational need without an Education, Health and Care Plan, for instance; dyslexia, dyspraxia, speech and language needs, ASD and Asperger’s syndrome, learning difficulties and behaviour difficulties.
Where a special educational need does not occur as frequently, we access training and advice so that these needs can be met through in house and external support.
Students with a diagnosis are placed on the DSEN Register and benefit from additional and different support within the classroom which includes our supported pathway – a smaller teaching group with general LSA support.
In addition we operate a transition group for students who may struggle with moving to Secondary school. These students spend 2/3 of their time with one teacher in a more Primary style environment and the remainder in mainstream lessons.

At Northfleet School for Girls we understand that an important feature of the school is to enable all students to develop emotional resilience and social skills, both through direct teaching for instance in PSHE lessons, Assemblies and base time and indirectly with every conversation adults have with students throughout the day.
For some students with the most need for help in this area we also can provide the following: Mentoring time with a member of the school's Pastoral Team, external referral to CAMHs, time-out space for students to use when upset or agitated, referral to Resilience Mentors, Positive Relationships Ambassadors, Anger Management Programme delivered by ESLs & ‘The Bridge’ inclusion classroom.
